Stacy Bettison brings over 15 years of legal and communications experience in a wide range of industries and business. Stacy has honed an expert blend of legal and business acumen developed over her years as an attorney and communications strategist. Adept at identifying risk and opportunity, Stacy serves as a highly valued business and communications advisor offering smart, insightful and practicable strategies and solutions.
As an experienced litigator, Stacy gained top-shelf legal and business training and experience in law practice serving corporate and governmental clients at Jenner & Block (Chicago) and Greene Espel (Minneapolis). She litigated in the areas of environmental law, employment discrimination, land use, products liability, toxic tort and construction law, and counseled on regulatory matters, real estate due diligence and occupational safety and health.
Stacy then served as general counsel and director of communications for a national non-profit plant research institute. She provided legal counsel for contractual, intellectual property, licensing, real estate and insurance issues and was responsible for handling business issues including new plant introduction and real estate acquisition for plant trials and testing. In her capacity as communications director, Stacy developed and implemented strategies for stakeholder communications and a national public relations campaign.
Most recently, Stacy served for five years as a senior communications consultant with a Minneapolis strategic communications firm. Her practice included crisis and litigation communications, corporate and business communications and media relations. Stacy has led and managed all aspects of communications strategy development and planning. Deft in new and traditional media, Stacy has served as a spokesperson for many clients, fielded media inquiries, conducted interviews, negotiated interview terms and gained favorable media coverage for her clients on stories involving high-stakes business and litigation matters. Stacy has extensive experience working with national, regional, local news organizations and trade publications, and is an accomplished writer and editor for legal, trade and special interest publications.
Stacy is a summa cum laude graduate of Emerson College (Boston) in Communications, Political Science and Law, and a magna cum laude and Order of the Coif graduate from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she was managing editor for the Minnesota Law Review. She served as a law clerk to the Hon. Myron H. Bright, United States Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit.
Stacy currently serves on the Minnesota Horse Welfare Coalition, Eden Prairie Conservation Commission, Minnesota Women Lawyers Board of Directors, and is the past-president of the University of Minnesota Law School’s Alumni Board of Directors. Stacy has served as an election observer for El Salvador’s presidential elections and a hospice volunteer at several Midwest hospice organizations. Stacy lives in Eden Prairie, Minnesota with her husband, is the mother of three children and enjoys endurance sports, horsemanship and fishing.
